Upgrade #3 - Send multiple mailings, regularly
Marketing isn't a one time thing. Ask anyone in the advertising business; it can take 5 or 6 repetitions before you receive a response.
True, you may receive a .5% or 1% response on a mailing piece, but don't throw away the list just yet. Hit your prospects with a campaign - send 5 or 6 letters, and do it regularly. Not everyone responds the first time. Some people didn't open your letter, others weren't ready to buy, and some needed to hear your offer from a different angle.
Create a campaign that has each letter selling a different feature of the product. Send different letters, with different "lumpy items". Here are some common ideas:
Aspirin - "Get rid of your headaches"
Worry Dolls - "Get rid of your worries"
2 Pennies - "Here's my two cents.”
There are also different kinds of letter and envelope combinations you can use, here are some of our unique personal touch mailing pieces:
Quick "Memo" letter - Send a quick handwritten note to your prospect asking them to call. This cost effective letter is sent in invitation envelopes and looks like your wrote a personal note to your prospects. This is used as a follow up to a campaign or to vet a mailing list.
Legal Pad letter - A short, hand written letter used either to introduce a main letter or as a stand alone to generate calls. This letter is sent in a the under the radar "inter-office" envelope, the envelope has two punch holes in it so the prospect can see the yellow lined letter, but cant read it. When prospects see this letter - they will open it up, if only to find out what's inside.
Airmail envelope - This is an inexpensive envelope that looks professional but at the same time is not an over the top marketing cliché. When hand addressed this looks like an important letter, since it is used by several countries including the US for international Airmail it can only be sent via first class or international Airmail.
